If you use private–sector software to create your premium filing(s) and would like to submit the filing(s) electronically via My PAA, your software program must have the ability to save your filing(s) as an XML file meeting PBGC standards. Please check our Web site or with your software provider or developer to see if the software you use is compatible with My PAA. If the software has the capability to save multiple filings in one XML file, My PAA enables you to upload this file with multiple filings in it to save you time.
Once you initiate your upload and select the XML file from your computer, My PAA will execute the following steps, in sequence:
Once you initiate your upload and select the XML file from your computer, My PAA will execute the following steps, in sequence:
- Mandatory Elements - Verify the file's format meets the defined schema standards.? If no, the identified issues will be displayed, and the process will end.? If yes, continue to the next validation.
- Plans & Roles - Verify that all Plans associated with the filings in the XML exist on the uploader’s My PAA account and they have been assigned the Upload Preparer role for each Plan.? If no, the identified issues will be displayed, and the process will end. ?If yes, continue to the next validation.
- In-Process Filings - Verify that no ‘in-process’ filings (generally meaning not yet submitted to the PBGC) exists already in My PAA for any EIN/PN/PYC in the file.? If one or more ‘in-process’ filings exist in My PAA, the uploader will have the opportunity to cancel all currently ‘in-process’ filings automatically and proceed with the upload or choose to cancel the upload for all filings and maintain the status of all associated in-process filings.? If proceeding with the upload, continue to the next validation.
- Filing Data Validation and Certification - Execute all business rules for My PAA filings, to include verifying calculations within your data.? If any validation errors are detected, they will be displayed, and the upload process will end.? If no errors are detected, the system will allow the uploader to proceed with certifying the upload. A detected Warning will allow for an upload to continue to certification, whereas any detected validation Error will not.? If you have uploaded an XML with only one filing included and there is an amount due to the PBGC, the uploader must continue to select their payment option before the filing can be submitted to the PBGC.? If the XML contains more than one filing or there is no amount due, then the filing will be Submitted to the PBGC after certification.
- Payment (Single Filing Uploads only) – If uploading a single filing with an amount due, the uploader must select a Payment Option, and if paying within My PAA, input ACH information.? After payment information is provided, the filing within the XML will be Submitted to the PBGC.?
